      <image:title>Kernwapens - international security</image:title>
<image:caption>Very early on during my correspondent posting in India I visited the Partition Museum in Amritsar, which carries a large archive of historical materials that narrate the lead-up to India's and Pakistan's independence. It was a heated debate in a chaotic time, that deeply marked the region. This newspaper copy carries an article on the acceptance of the decision for partion, including by the Punjab assemblies (East and West). PUNJAB PARTITIONED, the headline reads. And, further second article on the same page: IRAQ'S NOTE TO BRITAIN ON PALESTINE, which reported on the Balfore Declaration. I'd finished up reporting in Iraq just before moving to New Delhi. I had been working on stories on borders, geopolitics, power. Seeing all those threads represented on one 75-yo newspaper page, really struck me.</image:caption>
