24 HOUR WOMEN'S MARCH

Washington, 21 January 2017

The Women’s March on Washington followed straight on Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 45th president of the United States. The overall visual could not be any different. I spent the day with a dear friend from university, who now works in D.C. She and a few friends and female colleagues had already agreed to attend the protest march; she was happy enough to have me crash at her house for a couple of days and let me tag along at the protest.

As during the inauguration, I had planned to take at least 1 photo each hour, so as not to miss anything. I stuck to that method but blew through my data bundle and had to post a lot of recaps.

#24hrMarch 8/24 [1.00PM] Earlier today I spoke to Ronnie about that #LOVE: "I live here in #Washington, but I'm in the hood. And I think things must be improved in this city, and the country. But you cannot run this like a business. This is not a business, because this is our home. My biggest problem, even for today, is I don't think people should be saying they hate Trump. If I see kids in my street, I hear them shouting, 'Fuck Trump, we hate Trump' and these kids don't even know how to spell or write properly. #24hrMarch 9/24. Early this morning [09.45AM] on a street corner, these #Hillary free posters were handed out. They were designed by Erika Alexander and her husband Tony Puryear. Since 2008, Alexander has been #Clinton/#Rodham's most-travelled surrogaten, representing her across the US. "Hillary is a mentor, an idool", she told me. On HILLARY: "I just wish people would not forget about Hillary because she lost to #Trump -- actually we lost, but she's been winning all along. It's only victories for her. She's miles ahead of us. I call her an #astronaut, because of the ways she travelled and the journey she's presenting to us. She's in another dimension." Safe to say, Erika is #stillwithher. It's why she brought HRC to the #womensmarchondc, re-taking the design she did for the poster in the 2008 race. "We did another one that shows the Hammer & Sickle hooked into the #WhiteHouse to call unto people to #RememberNovember and the involvement of a foreign government in our #elections."
